General Curriculum
Though our preschool curriculum is primarily geared toward children ages 3 and up, younger children also enjoy the variety and novelty that a thematic approach provides. Toddlers are encouraged to participate in all activities in any way they wish to, but since play is the core principle at Ami-Ami, no child is ever forced to take part in anything and is free to focus on his or her preferred interest of the moment, with our enthusiastic support!
Monthly themes are merely a vehicle for introducing seasonal or topic-related vocabulary, songs, colors, snacks, science experiments, etc. Thematic supplies, books, toys, costumes and more are provided so that the children can explore and have fun with our "topic du jour" on their own.

Some of the ubiquitous concepts and conversation topics at Ami-Ami that find their way in every day play and interactions (and thus are not granted a theme or a special week for discrete presentation) are:
- Feelings (ours and other people's)
- Spatial relationships (in, on, under, behind, across, etc; sorting, fitting, balancing, etc.)
- Time concepts (age, days of the week, times of day, before/after, first/then/last, yesterday/today/tomorrow, etc.)
- Counting
- The weather
- The senses
- Manners and compassion
